Recently I was profiled for a Player Style File by CBS Local Sports. Here’s a link to the video.
One of the best things about the offseason is that I get to spend time with my family. My son and I share a love for LEGOs, so I was excited when Brickworkz offered to make a LEGO portrait capturing my one-hit shutout against the Braves. I thought this was such a cool and creative idea and jumped at the opportunity to have the mosaic made.
The mosaic is based on a picture from that game of me pitching:
Here is an awesome video of the mosaic being built:
Thank you Brickworkz for the LEGO mosaic that my son and I can play with together!
Thanks to everyone who came to Fidos For Freedom for our first event.
It was a wonderful experience and we raised over $2,000 for the amazing assistance dogs!
On Saturday, August 24 JASON HAMMEL will sign autographs in exchange for a $10 donation to Fidos For Freedom from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the organization’s offices at 1200 Sandy Spring Road in Laurel. Fidos For Freedom, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. Founded in 1987, Fidos’ mission is to enhance the quality of life of people living in the Washington, D.C.-Baltimore, MD metropolitan communities by providing specially trained hearing dogs, service dogs, and therapy dogs to those individuals with disabilities, children with reading difficulties, and patients in health care facilities.
After our first exciting year in Baltimore, we are ready to settle down and get going on some projects that are near and dear to me and my family. The first member that my wife Elissa and I welcomed into our family is Sadie, a 40lb 7 year old Boston Terrier. She has been with us through the excitement of the World Series with our first team Tampa Bay, a 3 year run with Colorado and a whirlwind year in Baltimore that took us to the Playoffs.
She’s been there through it all, most recently welcoming our newest family member, our son Beckett. They are best friends, playmates, brother and sister, and share every part of the day together. Sadie is even Beckett’s throwing coach, retrieving balls for hours on end, maybe helping him carve out a future baseball career??
We’ve always wanted to do something that honors the love we have for our 4 legged family member and have some exciting things in store this season!
